Red Lobster is an American casual dining restaurant chain that is owned and operated by Darden Restaurants, Inc., headquartered in Orlando, Florida. The company also has operations in Canada, the United Arab Emirates, and Japan. As of May 29, 2011, there are 698 Red Lobster locations worldwide.

Red Lobster was founded in 1968 by entrepreneurs Bill Darden and Charley Woodsby. Originally billed as a "Harbor for Seafood Lovers", the first restaurant in Lakeland, Florida, was followed by several others throughout the southeast. In 1970, General Mills acquired Red Lobster as a five-unit company. With new backing, the chain expanded rapidly in the 1980s.

Country Fried Flounder


Red Lobster Country Fried Flounder
Copycat Recipe

Serve 6

2 pounds fresh flounder fillets
1 cup cornmeal
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Cut fillets into serving size portions. Combine cornmeal with seasonings. Roll fish in cornmeal mixture.
Place flounder in an iron skillet which has been preheated with about 1/8 inch of oil. Brown on one side 2 - 3 minutes. Carefully turn and cook on the other side an additional 3 minutes, until fish flakes easily with a fork.

NOTES
Serve with tartar sauce and coleslaw.
Marinate the fish in buttermilk for one hour prior to frying for a moist authentic taste.
