Red Lobster is an American casual dining restaurant chain that is owned and operated by Darden Restaurants, Inc., headquartered in Orlando, Florida. The company also has operations in Canada, the United Arab Emirates, and Japan. As of May 29, 2011, there are 698 Red Lobster locations worldwide.

Red Lobster was founded in 1968 by entrepreneurs Bill Darden and Charley Woodsby. Originally billed as a "Harbor for Seafood Lovers", the first restaurant in Lakeland, Florida, was followed by several others throughout the southeast. In 1970, General Mills acquired Red Lobster as a five-unit company. With new backing, the chain expanded rapidly in the 1980s.




Lobster De Jonghe

Serves 6

24 ounces cooked lobster meat
1/2 cup melted butter
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons finely-sliced green onion
1/4 cup melted butter
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Cut lobster into half inch pieces. Place lobster meat into a shallow baking dish or 6 individual casseroles.
Pour 1/2 cup melted butter over the lobster. In a small bowl, mix together bread crumbs, cheese, green onion, 1/4 cup melted butter and lemon juice. Spread bread crumb topping evenly over lobster meat.
Bake uncovered at 350 degrees until topping is brown (about 25 minutes). Individual casseroles or shallow baking dishes will require the same amount of cooking time.
